Örebro konsthall is a municipality run art center for contemporary art.
Örebro konsthall is part of the Art Department and works on behalf of the Culture and Leisure Administration to provide art experiences, spread knowledge about art and make art accessible to children, young people and adults. Örebro konsthall mission is to provide exciting art experiences for the citizens of Örebro and city visitors by exhibiting contemporary art. Örebro konsthall strives to make art accessible to a wide audience and offers various programs as art talks, art education for all ages.
The Art Department manages the municipal art collection and manages new artistic creations throughout the municipality through the one percent rule. The Art Department has charge of the municipal art collection which currently consists of approximately 8 300 works of art. These are mostly deposited in various places, for example offices, schools and elderly homes. About 300 pieces are placed outdoors in parks and squares.
In 2008 Örebro konsthall started up OpenArt, the Art Biennial where art transforms Örebro city into a giant outdoor exhibition of contemporary art. Read more about OpenArt here.
Konsthallens Vänner (the Art Gallery's friends ) is an active art club. The aim is to support the gallery and to increase the interest and commitment to visual arts in general.
